BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Colombia international midfielder Wilmar Barrios has joined Zenit Saint Petersburg from Boca Juniors, according to the 25-year-old's agent.
Barrios will travel to Russia in the coming days after Zenit reportedly agreed to pay the Argentine club 18 million euros.
"The clubs reached a deal and [Wilmar] will be incorporated into Zenit's squad," agent Juan Carlos Torres said.
Earlier, Barrios told local media that playing in Europe was a "very important step in my career".
The former Deportes Tolima player made 67 appearances for Boca and helped the team win back-to-back Superliga Argentina titles in 2017 and 2018.
